    What is an Ayurvedic Cleanse?

    Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old holistic health care system that takes a symptomatic approach to health.

    Ayurveda means “knowledge of life” and “knowledge of the self.” Like all holistic health systems, it’s rooted in the five elements and works with your body-mind-spirit as a whole entity. It doesn’t separate from the body what’s happening in the mind or emotions.

    Many people self-diagnose based on their symptoms, not their true nature or what we call “Prakruti” (core constitution) in Ayurveda. When you cleanse with Ayurveda as your guide, you take into account all of your current symptoms – but also who you are at your core.

    Here’s a sample from our delicious RAD Cleanse recipes

    Ginger Adzuki Bean Stew

    Preparation Time: 25 minutes, plus overnight soak time

    Yield: 3 to 4 Servings

    1 Cup Dried Aduki Beans

    4 Cups Water for soaking

    3 Cups Purified Water for cooking

    1 tsp. Celtic Sea Salt

    2 tsp. Ground Cumin

    1/4 Cup Packed Toasted Sea Palm

    1 tsp. Ghee or sesame oil

    1 tsp. Ground Turmeric

    2 Cloves Garlic, peeled and minced

    2 inches Fresh Ginger Root, peeled and minced

    1 Small Yellow Onion, minced

    1 Large Sweet Potato, cut into ½” cubes

    1/8 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

    1/4 Cup Fresh Chopped Cilantro

    Soak Aduki Beans overnight in 4 cups water. Drain. Put soaked aduki beans in fresh purified water with salt, seaweed, and cumin. Bring to a boil and simmer for 50 minutes or until beans are soft.

    Meanwhile, in a separate pan, melt the ghee over medium heat. Saute the turmeric, garlic, ginger, and onion until the onions are translucent. Add the sweet potatoes and cayenne pepper. Saute for another 5 minutes. Transfer the sweet potato mixture to the beans. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes and serve with fresh cilantro.
